Our School Uniform

At Green Square Public School, our children are proud to wear our school uniform. Our uniform is an important part of our school identity engendering a sense of pride, belonging, and identification with our school. It’s a significant rite of passage for our students to get their school uniforms and marks an important step into the world of schooling. In designing and selecting our uniform pieces we are also shaping the overall identity of our new school.

Our uniform was designed in consultation with the community with the aim that it is contemporary, promotes inclusiveness, is comfortable, durable and affordable.

Green Square PS Uniform Guidelines

The school uniform applies during school hours, while travelling to and from school, and when students are on school excursions. All children are required to wear the uniform, selecting from the uniform items available.
The Green Square PS uniform is a gender-neutral uniform. All children will have choice in selecting the uniform pieces they would like to wear from our designated items. This supports personal choice and ensures all children can comfortably access the full range of school activities while wearing uniform. Accordingly, it is not compulsory that girls wear the dress options if they would like to wear skorts, shorts or pants.
School hats need to be worn at all times in the playground, for sport and on excursions. With sun safety in mind the school has a No Hat No Play policy. Students not wearing a hat are required to remain in the shade during recess, lunch and sport sessions.
For safety reasons, minimal jewellery is permitted. Stud earrings worn in the ears and watches are the only acceptable jewellery.

Summer and Winter Uniform

The various items of our uniform can be worn throughout the year according to the weather. As a guide, our uniform will be worn as follows:

Summer uniform - Terms 1 and 4 (January – April and October – December)

Winter uniform will be worn in Terms 2 and 3 (July – September)

Summer dress in striped fabric with logo
Teal short sleeved polo shirt with logo
Navy shorts with logo
Navy skort with logo
Black shoes and navy socks
Navy broad brim hat with logo

Winter Uniform

Winter dress in striped fabric with logo with white Peter Pan blouse
Teal long sleeved polo shirt with logo
Navy trousers
Navy Skort with logo
Black shoes and navy socks
Navy broad brim hat with logo
Soft Shell Jack with logo
Fleecy Pullover with logo

Shoes and Accessories

Shoes

Black shoes are to be worn on every day other than sports days. A variety of styles can be worn but shoes are to be fully black. Styles can include lace up leather shoes, lace up black sports shoes, velcro fastening shoes or Mary Jane style shoes.
Navy socks are to be worn with black shoes. Navy tights can be worn in winter.
On sports days, trainer style sports shoes are worn with white socks.

Accessories

A navy broad brim hat with the school logo is worn every day when outdoors. No other hat is to be worn.
A navy backpack with the school logo will be used by all children as their main school bag. A library/excursion bag is available for these activities.
A navy raincoat, art smock, scarf, hair scrunchie and head band are all optional accessories.

There are several options for purchasing uniforms:

Attend the Pickles School Wear Marrickville outlet located on the corner of Saywell & Fitzroy Street, Marrickville. You will find their operating hours on their website. This is a good option if you would like your child to be fitted or would like to pick up uniform items directly.
Order online through the website. Online orders can be picked up from the Marrickville outlet or during school terms they will be delivered directly to school once per week and given to your child to bring home.
